FAQ

Do UK financial institutions report directly to the IRS?

No. The United Kingdom has a Model-1 IGA; data is reported to HMRC, which forwards it to the IRS. Registration with the IRS (GIIN) is still required.

How does QI fit with FATCA/CRS?

QI governs US withholding tax and documentation (W-forms). FATCA/CRS govern due diligence and reporting. Data has to be consistent across all regimes.
